Ken Burns Presents - The West: A Film by Stephen Ives
1 of 1 found this helpful As with all of Ken Burns works, this is fascinating - 9 volumes on the spirit of the west - the native Americans, the unflux of explorers & the the settlers, the railroads, the gold rush - beautifully scored and narrated. This set is my favorite next to the Civil War w/ Lewis & Clark coming in a close third...

Paris to the Moon - a Fabulous Book
This is one of my favorite books - #1, I love Paris & have a lifelong desire to live there for a year or sow/ my Jack Russell Terrier - Mr Gopnik, a writer for the New Yorker, left the Big Apple w/ his wife and 5 month old son to live in Paris from 1995 thru 2000...it is a lyrical book of essays that bring the beauty, joy and the sometimes hilarious side of Paris from an expat& a growing boy's views...I bought a 1st edition which I am sending to Mr Gobnik for a signature...dont buy that many books as our tiny Camas WA library is rated #1 in our state but this was a must have - 1st saw it at the Portland Art Museum...read it if you can because if you do, you will want to own a copy..the engraving of "Paris to the Moon" is stunning....
