Magellan Traffic Link - Poor design and performance
0 of 1 found this helpful Bought this because I was happy with Magellan GPS. I live in NY/NJ metropolitan area and I do not get accurate traffic reports. The explanation Magellan gave me is that there are not traffic reports available for my are. I do not believe it since my wife's GPS gets very accurate reports on her Garmin.
Another thing, the mini USB connector is made at a 90 degrees angle, If you try to connect the GPS first and then put it in its support the connector is interfering, therefore you must disconnect the GPS, then attach it to the support then try to find blindly the receptacle to connect the power/traffic module.. In a nut shell sloppy design from A to Z !

The GPS works OK in 90% of the situations but sometimes is confused and keep asking to make turns out of your way.
The bad thing is the waiting time if you search for a point of interest (restaurant). You have to wait, and wait and wait and finally when you go to the indicated address the restaurant is not anymore there...
The database is probably old, in one occasion I was told the restaurant closed 3 years ago.
Also, Route 46 WB is wrongly labeled as RT46 EB in the vicinity of the Teterboro Airport. Many streets are called Roads, Roads are called Streets and Boulevards are called Avenues (NY City)
The unit I ve got came the way it was advertised, seller deserves 100% positive feedback.
Magellan is using a 90 degrees connector which interferes with the cradle. One must put the unit in the cradle and after that connect the cable, this is a nuisance!
