Great cardio workout!
I bought this DVD solely for the cardio part of it. I love the intensity of Jari Love's weight workouts so I wanted to see if her cardio would be just as tough. She does not disappoint! The cardio workout is broken down into 3-minute intervals, and each interval has three levels of intensity. Most are familiar moves, but you will be sweating in no time! For most of the intervals, Jari goes briefly back to level one intensity at the end so your heart rate comes down just a bit. But, for a few of them she does not. For those few, I had to pause the DVD just to catch my breath...really my only gripe.
If you do the complete workout, she mixes in a bit of weight training, but I did the cardio only option. I'm a firm believer in not mixing weight training and cardio at the same time plus her weight segments on this DVD are so short, they won't make a big impact on you.
I was a little disappointed in the push-ups and abs section. It's not that long and certainly not as intense as the similar sections in her Get Extremely Ripped DVD. I didn't feel the burn like I do with that DVD.
I would highly recommend this DVD for the cardio aspect of it. If you are looking for an intense weight workout, try her Get Ripped:Slim & Lean DVD. I LOVE that workout! You will truly reshape your body using weights with that one. If you want to work with weights and keep your heart rate up, try her Get Extremely Ripped DVD. You won't be able to use as heavy a weight as with the Slim & Lean workout because you are constantly moving while lifting. Plus, the push-up and abs sections on that DVD are some of the best I've seen because she works both the abs and the lower back. Most ab workouts ignore the lower back and just focus on crunches.

Not happy with this one at all!
This DVD might be good for you if you are just beginning to work out with weights. It covers the basics and gives you three levels of difficulty to choose from when doing each exercise. I consider myself a pretty advanced weightlifter, and even after doing all the exercises at the most difficult modification, I felt like I had barely worked out by the end of it. Also, very little tricep work is included...a few kickbacks are done at an awkward angle, but that's it. Very disappointing...I will not be using this one again.

Good workout, even if it is a bit cheesy!
1 of 1 found this helpful Yes, Jake is a little goofy, but if you can past that, you can get a good workout out of this DVD. I bought this mainly for the Total Body Workout, and for the most part, I like the routine. What I don't like about it is how quickly they transition from one exercise to the next...you have no time to pick up another set of weights and end up missing some reps because of it. Jake even mentions in the beginning about using different size weights for different exercises yet forgets some might be doing that during the routine. What I do like about it is it will get your heart rate up and help you build muscle. It's got a great mix of strength training and cardio. I would definitely recommend the Total Body Workout. I would NOT recommend either of his ab workouts. You do way too many crunches to work the upper abs and just a few oblique and lower abs. My arms were sore from holding them behind my head for so long! I haven't tried the lower body workout yet. I would say the DVD is worth it just for the Total Body Workout.
