Great Value To refurbish Older Laptops
I can get some nice HP/Compaq laptops very inexpensive on EBAY that usually just need Hard Drive and AC Power. These work just fine. I prefer the 2 prong (no ground wire)

Great Karaoke Machine
I like the older laptops that have s-video. direct composite output to TV with passive adater. This one is towards the "new" end of that line. the SATA for the single drive (no optical, don't need cd's) means I can put a 1TB in there. no more USB drive. The audio input jack is Stereo, adequate to record back from karaoke mixer to "supersound recorder" direct to mp3. 2GB of RAM win7 is fine. can go up top 4gb (not necessary). the speed is a quick 2.2GHZ
Connections for SVIDEO and power are on the back. nice for system installs keeps it clean with those large connectors. audio on the right side can use right angle connectors for a small fit. these things are rugged. I don't care about battery life, always plugged in anyways. small size i like, a bit heavy is ok, because it is rugged. Great for professional Karaoke hosting.

Great Building Block
Nice Easy to use small amplifier well suited to building a powered speaker. As with any amplifier you need a solid power supply. I have a set of no name 10" powered speakers. I upgraded them by adding an active crossover (3000hz) and adding this amplifier with the built in amp. it worked out well. When experimenting and prototyping it is good to have a few of these around. they set up quick. I do wish the audio input was a regular terminal, i do not have access to that style of plugin connector, I solder wires direct to the board.
