Burke at his peak
Showing interconnectedness in the evolution of modern technology (circa the 1970s) that enlighten, surprise, and educate. This series was produced well before similar ideas entered mainstream writing and science journalism. Burke is hugely knowledgeable and erudite, and even if at times the connections may appear far-fetched they do not stray far from what may actually have taken place. It takes a fearless narrator like James Burke to bring drama to the history of technology. Everyone stands to learn, from high school students on.
Burke's later series can be strained by comparison.

One of the greatest comedies ever
The great Billy Wilder at his best, his take on American culture as seen through the lens of Hollywood gangster films but utterly modern in its outrageousness. Incredible dialogue, funny beyond all expectation.
