Rick Stein's India: In Search of the Perfect Curry: Recipes from My Indian Odyss

Restaurant standard dishes
A fantastic book. Clearly written with attractive pictures, and the pages are good quality paper. I have tried several recipes and the results of the curries have been better than most of the restaurants I have eaten at, and I have sampled many Indian restaurants over the years. The recipes are not too complicated once you have assembled all of the spices, and you will need many spices to faithfully reproduce the recipes, so expect to have a large pantry of spices. Well worth it though. The odd cooking tip is helpful too, like using beetroot powder instead of food colouring to colour a tandoori dish. The thing about cookbooks is if you look at a recipe and it looks too complicated you tend not to bother. The recipes aren't overly complicated The several curries I have cooked have been restaurant quality or better and I cannot speak highly enough of this book. I have many Indian and spice cookbooks but this one is generally my first port of call now.
