Widebody
4 of 4 found this helpful There are very few widebody optioned cars available and they are in short supply. The widebody is also known as the Turbo-Look or M491, and this was probably the most costly option ( $10,000 originally) available during this period, other than a full Turbo 911. The M491 includes the Turbo wide body, Turbo brakes, and Turbo suspension geometry, but rides exceptionally well. While they cost more originally than the conventional narrow body, the ongoing cost of maintenance is no essentially the same, much less than that of a Turbo.
The car is a real pleasure to drive if you don't mind the lack of power steering - while this takes a little getting used to at first, once done you will rarely pay any attention to it, probably only when parallel parking in a tight space. The return is that the car talks to you much more strongly than any power steering model, keeping you informed of the road surface but still not harshly so. If you get one with the optional ginormous rear spoiler, you will probably get more thumbs up, waves, whistles, rapid headlight flashes, sudden screeches as people stop to stare, and just general covetous looks, than any other Porsche model since the series was offered (1984-1989). Some aficionados prefer this body to any 911 ever available as it was the last with the original classic 911 styling. 1990 brought a new somewhat clumsy attempt at restyling which was thankfully short lived, and even contemporary models are not nearly as visually satisfying to this jaded Porschefile.

Classic martini glass shape but may be too large for some
If you like large martinis this one definitely accommodates those. But be sure they have a designated driver for visiting friends. I would have preferred one that was maybe 4 oz and a lighter, thinner glass. But they are actually the classic shape for martinis.

Very functional if not the most attractive rubber mat available
Very functional if not the most attractive rubber mat available (a Weathertech equivalent looks nicer and is just as functional). Aesthetically the oem mat was only available in black which actually shows dirt more than a grey or beige one would such as ones from Weathertech which I have had for other cars. Both this oem mat and the Weathertech equivalent should outlast the car, and a WT I had earlier lasted for several cars.
