Atlas Alco RS1 Road Switcher
What's Good: Beautifully designed, great looking and well detailed locomotive: Excellent slow speed operation too. Decals, paint and fine details are excellent including the tiger stripping and rivet detail. Right up with the best Atlas standards.
What's Not; For some unfathomable reason the RS1 is still NOT DCC capable: Atlas have released their exquisite and smaller Alco S2 with DCC and superb Loksound so no excuses for not doing the same with the popular RS1 in my opinion: Releasing non DCC capable models in this day and age is pretty sad. Also, and this applies to all major N Scale manufacturers, there is NO shell removal instruction. With detail parts becoming smaller, in scale and delicate and with many models being DCC ready there is just no excuse for not providing a simple instruction sheet on how to remove the shell safely and install a DCC decoder with every model.
Apart from those two details the Loco can not be faulted.
