Not battery powered.
The item works ok but beware that it is NOT battery operated. We used portable battery packs and it met our needs fine. We used it for camping to keep the heat down in the tent.

Heavy duty and stylish but...
It is a heavy duty piece but it is such an expensive part in comparison to similar items. Because the tub cutout it is a special shape you cannot purchase a different kind/size at the hardware store. I am lucky I was able to get it at an affordable price on eBay because in store, the cheapest I found was over $150. Now that it is in and installed I am very happy with the way it looks. It is unique but really, how many people go into the bathroom and say 'wow, what a beautiful overflow drain you have'. (We bought a black bathtub so the black overflow drain makes the tub look seamless.) I would recommend this product but be sure to look around and see if you can find it cheaper before buying.

Nice product but directions were a little confusing.
It is a quality item but I feel the instructions are a little hard to understand. I also set it up but I think I did it incorrectly because it was dispensing food at a time I did not input. Could be because I put the amount of food to be dispensed too high and therefore the auto stop feature kicked in. My cats will get super fat if I don't adjust the quantity being dispensed! LOL. Otherwise I would recommend.
