Back to ASUS
My previous MB was an older model ASUS it lasted me 4 years when I upgraded to a Gigabyte board. I gave the old one to a friend. Less than two years on the Gigabyte board has died. My friend is still running my old ASUS one! The Gigabyte boards are generally high quality but they just don't quite match up to ASUS. As far as I can see the parts are simply of higher quality and the layout of the board governed by usability rather that budgetary requirements. This board, the maximus 2 formula is amongst the finest I have seen. There is no onboard speaker but it is not required as the led lights on the different sections of the board alert you to any post problems and help identify any issues. The inclusion of onboard power and reset buttons is an excellent idea as is the external CMOS reset switch. Its as though it has been designed by users rather than designers. Everything is laid out with high specs in mind and it easily accepted 4 sticks of corsair dominator ram with heatsinks and cooling fans plus a huge 1GB ATI 5700 series graphics card and two case fans. It has to proper PCI express slots so you can run 2 graphics cards with SLI without the need for annoying PCI expansion cards. The board and its bios allow plenty of scope for overclocking if you are into that. You can pick these up pretty cheap now as it doesn't support the new i5 and i7 processors but frankly apart from professionals I can't see why anyone would require more than a regular quad core and 8gb of ram (though this board will take up to 16gb of ram should you feel the need). The only bad thing about this board is that is looks so stylish bare it seems almost a shame to plug anything into it!

Outstanding
Although now 30 years old this is still the finest publication in this field, testament to the quality of writing and depth of research involved.

Great value for money
Fully functioning replacement or extra ram for imac. Much cheaper than buying from Apple. It is extremely easy to install taking under ten minutes and only requiring a screwdriver.
