Sadly..... i'm really disappointed.
0 of 1 found this helpful Read many mixed reviews about this item, but still decided to try it since I had always been very happy with all my other logitech products. I decided to buy a somewhat used/damaged remote that seemed like (and proved to be) a very easy fix. After repair, testing and confirmation that it was fully functional, i'm totally relieved that I didn't pay full price for this item.
PRO'S:
* looks very cool
* appears to be compatible with a wide variety of products
* fairly quick & easy to setup and use
* can (ideally) eliminate the need for use of any other additional remote
CON'S:
* often does not respond, or response is slightly delayed
* desktop software leaves a bit to be desired
* signal is pretty weak, and will require an RF extender in most cases
* use of RF extender with remote causes other misc problems
* emmits a long high pitch tone when initially placed on the charging cradle
* logitech customer service is just terrible. not helpful in any way
* would have loved 2-4 more equally sized, round face buttons, which could have been added quite easily while still maintaining the stylish design, the comfortable button layout and the current LCD screen size.
While it is still a nice piece of equipment, pretty handy to use and fun to play with, it simply is not worth the price tag it totes. There are better remotes on the market in the same price point which won't cause a frustration induced headache after prolonged use. The con's outnumber the pro's and after nearly 1 week of use, you may not want to continue using it yourself, let alone reommend it to others.
I sincerely hope the 1100 model isn't just the same item in a different colored casing. Will be certain to review it here as soon as I get my hands on it.

A good choice
Good, clean, smokeless, odorless flame that lends the classic look and feel of a wood burning fireplace, to more modern or contemporary design.
Only burns about 2 hours or so in my unit, but I believe the duration of flame is based on the size of the fluid containment chambers (which vary in size based on unit).
It also puts out a decent amount of heat, particularly in close proximity. However, my personal use is for aesthetics and decor. If you're more concerned with heat output, I've been told RF offers different varieties (with different colored caps and labels) that produce different degrees of heat. I don't know if that's actually true, but it should be easy enough to find out if necessary.

Why the Toshiba HD-A30 player is still a great buy
14 of 15 found this helpful Both when the format war (Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD) began, and when it was at the peak of battle, it was clearly noticable that HD-DVD was the superior format, even if only by a slight margin. Unlike Blu-Ray, The picture and sound quality of HD-DVD since conception was nothing short of perfect. The players and media itself both maintained a "reasonable" price point. The technology allowed fast, easy and inexpensive transfer of movie titles from SD format to HD. It also allowed better compression of data, providing even more storgage space than what was available on a Blu-Ray disc (a huge selling point for Blu in the early stages of the format war).
There were many other advantages and benefits to owning HD-DVD's. However, likely due to it's "virtually" unannounced introduction to the consumer arena, it's lack of aggressive marketing, and its poor name choice which provided little or no distinction between True High Definition and Upconverted High Definition, HD-DVD slowly lost movie production company support and ultimately the format war altogether.
With that knowledge, some might wonder why anyone would consider purchasing an HD-DVD player (more specifically, the Toshiba HD-A30). Well, despite being manufactured to support and promote an all-but-dead format, it is still able to upconvert standard DVD movies to HD resolution. The visual quality of standard DVD's played via the Toshiba HD-A30 (when viewed on an HDTV) can only be described as ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
If you have an extensive DVD library and are in need of an alternative to repurchasing all of your movie titles in Blu-ray for a frightening amount of money, or just enjoy purchasing select titles ocassionally and don't want to spend $400 or more for a low end Blu-ray player plus additional costly movies, the Toshiba HD-A30 is definitely for you.
Aside from the 30 seconds it takes to switch from standby to full power (not a big deal to me personally), you'll have no complaints about this item. And with its already affordable price likely to be reduced, since the format it was designed to promote is now obselete, this is a steal for anyone who enjoys watching movies at home.
