An excellent overview of an island community.
The two volume History of Tasmania by Lloyd Robson, although dry at times and heavily focused on economic and political history is none the less the only foundational history of the island from pre-colonization (invasion) to the modern era. Its importance is its sweeping overview of an island full of the very best in humanity and the very worst, within the microcosm of a small isolated island commuity
