Thats an EGR switch
The flow rate might be a significant problem with the ECU switching rate. And proximity to fuel tank affects function "the internal rubber does expand from fuel fumes"

Great for a bad shoulder and a 10feet weekly trim
Motor should have better ventilation and cooling and some safety measures/accomodations for AC supply variations. Plenty of efficiency to sacrifice for that.
Shape and weight are remarkable.
