Jay and Silent Bob's last act (for now)
I bought this to own all the Jay and Silent Bob films. A shaky premise comes rather good the more you watch this film. Some very good scripting and dialogue. Every character is good and Jay and Bob do not disappoint.

Godzilla on Superbit DVD
I love this film and wanted to see if the claims of extra quality in this format stood up. I have watched Godzilla quite a few times, so i can compare it to my previous viewing experience. The quality is good, but sadly shows up even more the fact that the film wasn't finished before being released. Scenes that were complete and set in daylight had good colour and detail. Where it wasn't finished; it loked it, but that's not a fault of the format. I will buy more of these as they arise and look forward to watching them. It seems foolish to bet these when Blu Ray is now the standard and these are no longer made, i believe, but i was curious.

Onkyo 309 is an excellent starter reciever.
Onkyo have a good reputation, so i bought this new, unused at a bargain price. It's chunky and black, which i like, though some come with a more stylish look. It does all it says and i use hi-fi speakers as i bought it mainly for surround sound on live music DVD's and Blu Ray. It plays FLAC files from a USB stick as well. It's not a dedicated music player, but i can't afford the real deal. Having said that, it plays music rather nicely, so i don't get too much of that "wish i'd got the 5009 model" blues. Dislikes are that the Dolby and DTS indicators are tiny, so seeing a nice big DTS-HD Master Audio display isn't on the cards. There are no 5.1 phono inputs either, which is a shame as my Pioneer SACD/DVD-A player is redundant. My Sony Blu Ray player does SACD through HDMI, so all is not lost. I just have to use the DTS-HD MA layer off my DVD-A discs for now. I can only compare it to my previous Philips pre HDMI surround player, but as that didn't play back anything better than 24/48 files through it's 5.1 phono inputs it is an unfair comparison. It is definitely better though. I used the same speakers on both and music i am familiar with. To be fair, Marantz, Sony and Denon also make very well reviewed recievers at this price, but i am very happy with the money i have spent. Next stop is the 519 :-)
