great knife sharpener
I just got this kit today. I must say I am impressed. I've been sharpening my pocket knives with a whetstone for years. i usually get them sharp, almost razor sharp. with the Lansky system i was able to get a super sharp edge in minutes.
I will say a few thing about the system
1: the EXTRA COARSE stone(Black), well, unless you are making a knife from scratch you really don't need it.
2: the COARSE stone(Red), is good for a knife that is in really bad shape.
3: the MEDIUM stone(Green), will put a good starting edge on most knives.
4: the FINE stone(Blue), will put a sharp edge on your knives.
5: the EXTRA FINE(Yellow) stone, will put a good finishing polish on the knife edge.
I did find that this system doesn't work well for small pocket knives(under 3 inches). I have a couple of OLD TIMERS knives that are under 3" and on the small blade i could only get a 25deg edge, because of the height of the blade(from back to the sharp edge). the stone would hit the knife holder and not the knife blade.
all in all, I would recommend this kit for any one that wants a sharp knife but isn't too skilled with a whet stone. it will take some skill and some practice, but in no time you will get a knife that you can shave with,(lol)
but remember the better the knife the better the sharpening. you buy cheap junk knives you will never get a good sharp edge that will last. you may get it sharp for a few cuts but that's about it.
one more hint: if you are using this kit(or one like it) use light pressure when sharpening. too much pressure will destroy your knife.
also sharpen equally on both sides. try to keep the edges the same on both sides. it may take some time to get them even. work slow, be patient.

very cheaply made
don't get me wrong they work. they won't last long, as they are very cheaply made items. the cord(s) (((WIRES))) are thin and will break easily.
the headphones are set in one angle( they don't fit to your ears).
the boom mic will rotated all the way around so it can be used on either side,,,but, it is short and doesn't pick up your voice very well. I have to use the mic boost set at 20db before it would register on my computer.
buy these if you need a quick headset with a mic and you don't care about quality.
but if you want quality, spend a little more and buy a quality product.
