good for beginners

The class im taking is a pre-req to another class so i needed to get this book. Its huge!! Lots and lots of pictures which i guess is a good thing. But really there is just too much reading and its boring for someone like me. If your just starting off with computers this may be the book for you as it goes over some things that are kind of hard to find usually. The other part of the class im taking had a SAM something. Its like an online tutorial. Although most of it was boring too for me as i already knew how to do it i think it would be a much better option than a book since this is for computers, why not learn on the computer? But all in all its a good book for beginners.
