Excellet set for both collectors and as a childrens toy. Two thumbs up!!!
Childhood memories.. something we all cherish, especially us boyz who foundly remember the late 70's and 80's when Goerge Lucas and Steve Speilberg introduced to the world of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. And, of course, one of my favourite experiences as a kid was lego, and the hours of enjoyment you could have using your imagination to build buildings, forts, spaceshapes, etc. Then things changed... lego started selling more than blocks.. they started selling themes. My lego men we armless 2-1 blocks... my little brothers legos have arms that moved, legs that bent. Helmuts, guns, whips. I'm now a father of two kids, and was impressed when Lego released games based on Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and some of my favourite movies. And then, to my surprise, Lego started releasing Indiana-based in 2008. And no set would be right without one of the most memorable moments in Indiana films.. the fight scene in front of the "flying wing". Still remember the splat of blood hitting the plane.. as a boy, you KNEW what happened (why today's movies have to show the gore is beyond me). Well, I've digressed enough about my background. Let's talk about Lego set 7683 - Fight on the Flying Wing. A great set, comprising 376 pieces, and 4 minifigurines, including Indiana, Marion, along with a mechanic and soldier. The set looks fantastic, and really stayed as true as can be to the original movie, along with the size scale. As a display item, looks great and is instantly recognisable. As a toy, it always does well, since my kids and their friends can fly around the house, shooting things with the rear guns as well as the front cannons. Both cockpits are easy to open and close, and landing gear is not over intrusive. So would have to say, as both a collectable and a toy, this is a solid purchase. Very pleasing addition to the lego collection, and one of the last I will part with when the kids grow up (not Daddy though).
