A great idea which comes to nothing.
Extremely disappointing. I had not read the book but saw the first half hour of the film om TV and was intrigued to know what happened. The film presents you with a seemingly unresolvable tragedy and then gives you hope that it may be resolved and builds to a great anticlimax. There are illogical moments, a music video portrayal of the afterlife and there's even time for a ridiculously ham performance from one of my favourite actresses Susan Sarandon.
