Using remote IR Sensors for Sony Discman models

This RM-DM1K sensor works with a number of Sony Discman units which have a REMOTE port. It will work with both the RM-DM1 and DM5 controls. Note that your Discman needs to be externally powered if intending to use the remote port. It will not function if the Discman is running on batteries.

One of the best best of compilations

Tom Petty passed away this year but leaves a wonderful Catalog. His unique vocal style is complemented by that ringing Rickenbacker 360 guitar harking back to the Byrds and the sounds of that era. The CD is a remaster adding the duet hit with Stevie Nicks "Stop Dragging My Heart Around". Nicely produced with the original art found on the 1992 release of the same mix. The image attached to this review is of the 1992 cassette and the remastered 2009 CD. Both are very collectible and serve as a lasting tribute to a musician who left us too soon. Vale Tom Petty.

ONKYO MD-105FX MD player Hi-MD

As more audiophiles return to digital and analog tech the Minidisc or MD is becoming collectible once more and will no doubt command prices similar to the high end DD cassette Walkman. In its final incarnation the MD evolved to the HiMD 1Gb format supporting multiple modes of recording with compression or with CD quality PCM mode recording. Only Onkyo made components for your HiFi system that supported HiMD recording and playback. The MD-105FX is the best example of this technology but was only sold in Japan for the 100VAC domestic power system. Once you've bought a step down transformer you're ready to go. The MD-105FX will record in PCM mode on any blank MD but the full 90 minute capacity is only available on the rare and pricey HiMD discs. Other formats include HiLP which has compression supporting up to 45 CD's on one MD disc. Pretty cool and sounding better than MP3 too 😎
