It's all in the price
0 of 1 found this helpful Modest sound quality, and cheap plastic. HOWEVER, if your careful (again it is cheap plastic) with these they are great general monitor phones that are very comfortable and come with a very useful adapter (i can never have to many 3.5-1/4"). Recommended. Probably buying some more for my podcast talent and for general editing purposes. You can't beat the price for what you are getting. (paid less than $20 here on ebay)

the times have a changed
i looked for something like this during my college band days 10yrs ago and they were like $400. This is an extremely useful tool for multi indivdual talent to monitor they're performance. Sturdy construction. The power and input ports should really be on the opposite side but now i'm nitpicking. Highly recommended.

Great value, one major gripe.
So i got this lil guy for 2 reason. i needed a compact controller keyboard and i really wanted the 512 built in sounds as i'm a fan of the triton sounds. There are 2 things i find odd and one i find pretty annoying. The not so big deal is that the output is a 3.55milli stereo jack. like a headphone jack. I just find it odd that there wouldn't be a standard dual 1'4" stereo output considering the sounds packaged in.
The more annoying thing is that i presumed (shame on me) that there would be a midi input, so if i wanted to use my 88-key digipiano's midi out to control the sounds on the triton i could get that full range notes. Not the case. This thing only has a midi out. that 's insane to me. even my old casio keyboard has a midi in and out.
Still a great value at the price point and i love the sounds and the mod-pad, but i thought midi in on gear with built in sounds would be standard by now.
