History made fun!

I loved this series of books as a child. It tells the story of Kirsten, a young Swedish girl who, with her family, travels by ship from their homeland in Sweden to New York City. From there, they travel by train and river boat to Minnesota to a family member's farm. The following books tell of the struggles and joys of pioneer life. The American Girl books are a wonderful way to cultivate an interest in history in children.
