I replaced all 4 in our house with these. It's been about 3/4 of a year now one of them broke last week this seal of the rubber gasket on the cover snapped off and got sucked into the vacuum cleaner. Otherwise they were fine

Ski Instructor says check the expiration date - they do have a limited shelf life
I'm a ski instructor and skier who spends 6 hours a day in temperatures below freezing during the winter months. Between hand and toe warmers, I've used more than 400 pair. I place these above my toes, on my socks so they don't interfere with my ability to apply pressure from the foot to the ski. I would like to see the adhesive be a little stickier. I've used all the different brands, and they all perform just the same. I get about 4 hours of noticeable warmth daily, which is reasonable given they are in a plastic boot with zero air circulation. I could take my feet out of my boots at breaks, but it's not worth the amount of effort it would take. One thing that should be looked at is the shelf life of the warmer. A date is stamped on each, it's called "validation date" or "expiration" or "good through" or similar. My experience tells me two things: Find out what this date is by writing to the seller (if on eBay). I want the date to be as far out into the future as possible. Warmers with less than one year until expiration are not reliable. I can often find them with three years until expiration. A second way you can discover if the warmer is still good is to squeeze it in your hand. If it feels firm, and does not squish as readily as sand, chances are it will not work or work minimally. My comments apply to all brands. I find minimal difference between brands.
