Baofeng UV-5R - buy two and keep one in the bottom drawer

This is a great little SDR dual band portable. It's a bit quirky to program but logical once you get used to it. The LED torch and flashing beacon function is a bit out there. I've had plenty of problems with the USB programming cable but the price more than makes up for those hassles. At around 4Watts on high power I've hit 2m repeaters 15km away with the standard antenna supplied. The Lion battery has plenty of standby time, brand new it's running over 24h on a seldom used frequency. The desk top cradle charger is a 10V plug-pack type, a simple 12V car charger would be great. Buy two and put one in the bottom drawer. de VK4VAG
