Motorola Q - not quite the "all-in-one," but close!
Ah, the Q has arrived. Packaged with a 1.3MP camera/video camera 640x480, Wireless Sync, 1xEV-DO/1xRTT data, Windows Mobile 5.0, Bluetooth functionality and A2DP (allowing you to listen to music using a stereo Bluetooth headset), 64MB onboard RAM, miniSD slot, and QWERTY keyboard (hence the name of the Q), it's sure to turn heads. Also, for the Blackberry fans and what not, it is thinner than the current RAZR that swept the cell phone industry three years ago, and has a thumbwheel allowing you to scroll through menus and files. I really enjoy Windows Mobile 5.0 for one simple reason: volatility! If you happen to forget to charge the handset, it won't lose your data as other PDAs may. Definitely a plus. And the SD allows you to carry your files with you by not boggling down your onboard memory for the Q. Overall, the Q feels solid and easy to hold in your hand, and on VZW's 3G network, you can be virtually anywhere without missing a beat or email. The only reason I vote this 4/5 is because with a lot of files or applications open, the Q lags meaning you have to close them down in Settings by shutting down the applications. And no tap screen/stylus means you will scroll to reach every menu on the device (not necessarily bad, but can be a bit less intuitive). For the poweruser in you? Yes, you should get the Q...at least some functionality away from the laptop is worthwhile, right? ;-)

    KRZR...that's RAZR with a "K" =)
Well what do you know? Motorola decides to revamp its RAZR line and create a whole new item, but with a CDMA/EV-DO twist. Seeing this item at a Motorola fair definitely gave me some ideas. Of course, it has the basics of a Verizon Wireless V Cast Music cell phone: 1.3MP camera and video camera, microSD card, V CAST/EV-DO functionality (you can tether it to your laptop), bluetooth, and a sleek design. But here's where my opinion comes into play. I just don't like the design of the previous RAZR. It's hard to hold in your hand, it's fat, and honestly? It just feels flimsy to me, and that's a bad thing for me, considering I apparently love to drop all my phones haha. In comes the KRZR. The KRZR is about half the width of its predecessor, and shorter as well, so it's SO much easier to hold! Also, the intenna (the bottom part of the phone) protrudes its signal much better than before. Test calls were loud and clear, and they rock. But what REALLY takes the cream of the crop is its encasing. The RAZR is kind of plastic-feeling; this one is SO much more hot! And on the front display, you have touch-sensitive music controls for that avid music fan in you. The only downside? The microSD card is hard to insert and remove under the battery's casing, but then again, I use a USB cable for all that, so no worries to that one :). Final verdict? Same features, MUCH better design! So compelling to pay the $199 for a 2-year agreement, but it is expensive too for pretty much the same features as the RAZR. I guess that's your choice on how you feel...=)
