A very good set of books and CDs for helping one to learn the Korean language.
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a very good set of books and CDs for helping one to learn the Korean language. The authors teach the student to read and write the Korean characters. There is a KOREAN: Reading and Writing guide which goes into detail about how to write the characters and in turn be able to read them. It is quite sufficient.
There are then 3 books, - Essential, Intermediate, and Advanced.
For part of the "essential" book, the phonetic script in English is also given (in addition to the Korean Script). However, after a while the phonetic script is no longer given, and the learner is expected to know and be able to read the Korean characters, While this then becomes a "swim or sink" situation, it is actually a good thing for the learner.
The sentences progress from very simple in the essential edition, to more complex in the intermediate edition, and quite complex in the advanced edition.
At the end of each book there are appendices: Pronunciation Guide, and Grammar Summary. These provide a wealth of information, explanations, and examples.
I have gone through the books and listened to all the CDs - just one time so far. Even so, I think it's a very good set of books and CDs for learning the Korean language.

A great introductory material for learning Korean language
This is a nice booklet and CD set.
In the beginning of the book the author makes sure to give you an adequate explanation of the Korean writing system and its characters.
The bulk of the material is set up in 3 columns: ENGLISH word or sentence, followed by PRONUCIATION (phonetic script of Korean word or sentence), followed by HANGULMAL (KOREAN) word or sentence written in Korean characters.
When the book and CD are used together, it's a great way for learning to hear, read and speak the Korean language.
The end of the book has important information about SOCIAL CUSTOMS and then a brief BASIC KOREAN GRAMMAR section.
Overall, an excellent introductory material for helping the beginner to learn the Korean language.

Great for Learners of German
This book, written completely in German, is primarily written for German-speaking children. Yet at the same time, because the sentence structures are somewhat simplified, it is a great material for non-German speakers to learn and/or improve their command of the German language.
Great opportunity to learn a lot of new vocabulary, (perhaps with the help of a dictionary, OR simply by context.)
If you are familiar with Bible Stories, then you may easily find the comparable story in the English Bible (and often the stories themselves tell you which book and chapter to look at.)
The Paper & Ink Quality is Outstanding, which is what you would expect of a book that is printed in Germany.
This Bible-stories book has many color pictures whereby children as well as adults can relate to and more easily understand the stories.
An excellent book!
