Groove Essentials is Essential for YOU
If you would like to purchase one of the TOP drum instructional DVDs on the market then you have just found it. What you have here is stright forward instruction on the grooves every drummer should know in order to become a versitile player. I would recommend getting the book to go along with it, as the book comes with a CD full of play along tracks for each groove. Other DVDs that I think hit the mark for Drum Instruction are Dave Weckl's "How to develop Technique" and especially "How to Practice". Carter Beauford's "Under the Table and Drumming" CAN'T BE BEAT and you won't find a better tuning course than "The Drum Set Crash Course - Tuning Edition" by Russ Miller.

Super Drumming Volume 1 Not so Super
This video is loaded with talent performing some wonderful jams. The specific reason I purchsed this DVD is for the footage of Bill Bruford, and indeed Bill is featured on several of the tunes and he plays on more tracks than most of the other drummers. However the production is a bit dated, and the camera angles fall short of what I was looking for in the way of a "learing" vid. Most of the time you cannot distinguish what the drummer is doing below the obvious, and it's the subletly of technique that I was looking for. I did not pay much for this DVD, so I'm happy to have it my collection. If you are just looking for a good performace by some fine musicians, then by all means pull the trigger. If you would like to learn something, then thats what you will do...learn SOME things. Bruford's humility aside, this product falls into the catagory of "Look what I can do."

Alexi Murdoch's First CD is a hit out of the park.
If you have a love for British Folk music and deep admiration for Nick Drake, you will love this CD. The first try by this Scottish native living in LA leaves you begging for more. Romatic, emotional, moody and melodic. If you have any doubts, I encourage you to check out his website/myspace and listen to "All my Days" or "Orange Sky" and you will be hooked. Buy this CD.
