Seiko 5 Beige Dial Beige Canvas Mens Watch SNK803
13 June 2018
One of the best entry level automatic watches on the market- but small by modern standards
With street pricing of $65, and the occasional eBay coupon code, it's hard to argue against this being a great buy. The good points include a modern take on a military style dial, solid construction, and a generally reliable and acceptably accurate 7s26 movement. The movement isn't decorated, but it's still cool for the novice to be able to see it work. The watch is very lightweight, and the spinning of the rotor can be felt. My first reaction is that it's a cool reminder that you're wearing a tiny machine on your wrist, but I don't know if it would eventually become annoying. The size is an advantage for some, and a negative attribute for others. At 37mm it's small by most modern watch standards, but most issued military watches were even smaller at 36mm. If your wrist is 7" or smaller it's going to look fine. Also nuetral is the 30m water resistance. This is fine for everyday use, but 30m doesn't mean it's intended to be worn while swimming. It is a field watch, after all. The only significant negative (at this price point) is the strap. The tan dial and tan strap is too... tan. I put it on a Maratac ACU gray strap, and it looks good. Beyond aesthetics, though, the canvas strap is stiff and scratchy. Ditch it, and factor an 18mm replacement into the the equation.

MAXLINER All-Weather Floor Mats for Fusion - A0260
06 November 2018
AWESOME alternative to Weathertech
I've owned Weathertech in the past, and was very happy with the quality. I bought a set of these for my wife's new Chrysler Pacifica. The new car was an unexpected purchase, so I was looking to save a few bucks. An "open box" set of these was available on Amazon for just over half the price of the same set from Weathertech. They are thinner, and lighter weight than Weathertech, but they are also more of a polyurethane type material than rubber. It's hard to explain, but they feel like they will last longer. Time will tell. The mold was absolutely perfect. I was so impressed that I bought a set of front floor liners for my company car, a Ford Fusion. They were also perfect. In fact, the factory floor mats were already starting to rip the plastic anchor/grommet out of the carpet after only 2 years because they shifted around as I got in and out of the car. These solve that problem completely, since they fill the floorboard areas completely and there's nowhere for them to move. The only gripe I have is that the Fusion liners don't overhang the door sills like the Pacifica liners do- but the floorboards in the Fusion are very deep-set comparatively.
Luke4deals Solid Brass Pen - Machined Brass Ballpoint Pen, Pocket Pens, USA

Fantastic US made brass pocket pen
There are a million options for pocket pens, but if you want metal, you like the look of brass, and you want something made in the USA that doesn't break the bank, look no further. I considered the brass Kaweco Liliput, Kaweco Sport, and Machine Era pens as well. The Liliput must be posted to be usable in my hand, and I didn't really want to be "pocket fountain pen guy". The cheapest I could find it was $48+. After trying a brass Kaweco Sketch Up Grip pen, I was convinced that the Kaweco Sport in brass would be too fat and heavy. The Machine Era pen appeared to be almost identical to this one, only about 15% more expensive and with slightly different final machining. The Machine Era pen has four closely spaced, smooth rings in the body. This Luke4Deals pen has four widely spaced sections of knurling. While the smooth rings may help with grip, they won't compare to the knurling on this pen. It should be noted that one of the sections is on the cap, which helps with unscrewing it and screwing it back on. There are no moving parts. The cap has female threads, and screws onto the male threads of the body. The body also has female threads that accept the male threads of the tip. This prevents the tip from ever being unscrewed when you unscrew the cap. The machining is excellent, the threads are smooth, and the knurling is fantastic. It's sized well, and positions itself as a pen that will fit in your pocket, but won't get lost. Uncapped it's still perfectly usable in my large (xxl glove size) hands. Capped it's a bit longer than a Uniball clicky pen. If you want to have a "real" pen on you at all times, it's a great choice. If keeping size and weight down are Paramount, look elsewhere. For me this pen represents an excellent compromise. Bottom line, I highly recommend it, and I expect it to last until I lose it or die.
