YS III WANDERERS FROM YS -- SUPER NINTENDO SNES TESTED , SAVES
06 February 2018
Fun but unbalanced game
The graphics are overall very good. The story and dialogue is OK but unremarkable. My main complaint is the gameplay. Player movement and attacking is very fast. This is at odds with the fact that if you rush, you will die quickly. You must proceed slowly and deliberately at first and grind out experience. After a few levels are gained and better gear attained, you can run through the levels holding the attack button down to chop through anything in your path. Most bosses can be easily dealt with by using the power ring and finding the right spot to stand as you swing away. Oddly, there is a max of 16 experience levels. Once you get to the castle, your level becomes irrelevant and you must rely on enemy avoidance to make it to the end of this long area, which also has background statues capable of killing you in two hits, even with the best armor. At this point I became so frustrated I resorted to blatant "save scumming". There is challenge, but the game is hurt by bad design choices.

EVO Great Game, To Save, Buy a CR2032 Battery
On the issue of saving... I was not aware it did not come with a battery prior to buying. Fortunately I had a pack of CR2032 button cell batteries (I'd planned on replacing some of the failing batteries in my old carts). You also need the special bit to open the cart. Search for "game bit screwdriver SNES"
