Unassuming, powerful, good value 1080 GTX option, plays all my games in 1440P wonderfully
XHY8P indeed comes up as a DELL branded 1080 GTX in GPU-Z (see attached picture); I've heard that MSI manufactured the actual hardware. I've a fairly quiet build, and even while stressing the card out, haven't noticed additional noise.
Only requires 1 connector, an 8 pin; prior card, a 970 GTX, required a 6 and an 8, despite technically requiring less power.
It's pretty stock-default GTX 1080, down to the cooler (which even outwardly carries the design details of Nvidia's founder edition sans LEDs or the like)
My impression investigating these cards, there's a fairly low reward spending a lot more on cards whose manufacturers pushed the clock speed; is 5 or 10% additional speed, a bunch more heat and power usage, worth it for a hundred or two hundred more?
If you need your card to glow random colors in your case, or illuminate huge brand logos, this isn't it for you; but for my goal, playing Assassins Creed Odyssey at High/Ultra 1440P, it worked wonderfully, and feels incredibly smooth and looks fantastic.
