Recommended - but not for beginners
This is a remarkable book by a remarkable author. It details meditation practices hard to find elsewhere.
For those with a degree of experience, and a desire to take matters further, it is highly recommended. But for those just starting, or not yet committed, or just curious, it could be useful to try a few mindfulness techniques first. Or perhaps a little Zen. This book is outstanding but it is most definitely not for the faint-hearted!

This is another well-edited and well-presented book from DK (Dorling Kindersley), perhaps the best publisher of all.
It reviews more than sixty of the most famous paintings in the world, with both text and copious illustrations. Although Euro-centred, it does not neglect masterpieces from America, the Orient and elsewhere.
It is not truly an art history, more an eclectic selection of pictures that over time have enthralled, inspired, or even set new parameters. Enjoyable in itself, it may also tempt the reader to look for more lengthy and profound discussions in areas of special interest.
Suitable for anyone keen on the subject from 12 to 102.
Death and Dying (Arkana)-ExLibrary

Highly recommended
Tibet has a long tradition of techniques and meditations designed to care for the dying. This book reviews nine classic texts that cover, amongst much else, preparation for death (either oneself or a loved one), the transition to a very different consciousness, and the notion of reincarnation itself.
The author discusses these subjects in an accessible and sensitive fashion.
An absolute must for anyone wanting to know more about 'the last great taboo'.
