About

Do you love NIKON cameras as much as I do? I am now a retired/disabled newspaper photographer for eight years before becoming a forensic photographer for the California Highway Patrol, for over a decade; long before there was a CSI.

Nikon D70 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera, Two Batteries, Charger & New Strap! [#19-1]
22 February 2017
For its age, this is a great bargen for under $100.
It seems every week a new digital camera comes out, more bells, wisely and things to go wrong. Keep it simple, has been something I always thought; although, this may be a simple camera with a few bells and wisely, but it does very well. The Nikon D-70 is more a "Pre-Sumer" camera; the Nikon D-80/D-90 was one of the top selling digital cameras buy Nikon in the consumer range; putting the D-70 just at or above the D-90 that replaced the popular D-80. With the larger size digital card most consumers had to buy an adapter to download their images to their lap-top where the D-80/D-90 used the smaller postage stamp size memory card that often was on most computers. Image size, 6.1MP is on all three cameras, so you are not losing anything. Most 8 X 10 or even 11 X 14 prints can be shoot using 6.1MP cameras, most all of Nikon large selection of lenses will work on the D-70 and for the price, a used D-70 can be had for under a $100 where as the D-80/D-90 is about $25~$50 more. All three cameras are top-notch, great for the young photographer in the family whos hobbies will change next week; you won't be out much money if they take up a new hobby. However, the camera's will still be good to use on holidays, photos for eBay, or many other times that the cell phone camera just won't do the trick. In short, if your computer can take the bigger video card, then the D-70 is great, if your lap-top only takes the smaller postage stamp size memory card, look for a D-80/D-90. If your heart is set on the D-70, you can buy a USB card reader for about, or less the difference of the price between the cameras. I used all three, and believe they are all about the same except the card, so go for the money and buy an extra lens. Good luck and happy photographing.

Motorola GP68 VHF 136-174MHz 5W 20 Channel 2-Way Radio + Accessories W/O BATTERY

If you are on a budget and need a radio that can do has 20 channels, telephone interconnect (HAM radio) and can easily be up-grade, this is it!
I have bought four of these of the past few years; If you are on a budget and need a radio that can do has 20 channels, telephone interconnect (HAM radio) and can easily be up-grade, this is it! This llittle, light, but tuff radio is great for small fire departments that are on a tight budget. They can be used in areas where a spark could cause an explosion, the accessories like mics, earbuds, and other items are only a few bucks, where with other radios can cost hundreds of dollars. I have used my radios in the field of photographing auto accidents; the first channel is primary dispatch when in scann mode, so I don't miss a call, the next three channels are public channels so I can talk to others working with me, the remaining channels I had police, CHP, fire, and ambulance programed so I can hear what is going on when in scan mode. If too much chatter... block out that channel, but still able to hear the other 19 channels. The battery holds a charege for a good eight to ten hours and the extra-power battery will last all day and half the night. With the low watt I could still talk in the city for a good mile, - in the county, I was talking to other units three to five miles. When on high whatt power, I was able to reach almost 20 miles. This radio looks and feels like the high-end Motorola units costing hundreds or thousands of dollars per unit! I never had one go bad in the last five years. Its easy to use (programing was a little hard), clear signal and very durable. You won't be disappointed whith these units.
