Two great voices; two great actors.
Being filmed in a staged fashion as opposed to a cinematic one gave it an intimacy that the opera requires. Two great artists with fine support from other members of the cast make this production a real operatic and theatrical treat. The superimposed street scenes weren't too bad, although I'm not a lover of high tech imagery.

A joy to watch and hear.
A beautiful, traditional production with two great voices in Renee Fleming and Rolando Villazon. I believe that the great operas of past centuries deserve a fine stage setting which is often absent in modern productions, but fortunately, this one is a treat for the eyes and ears.

A fine, traditional production.
Rolando Villazon is magnetic as Le Chevalier Des Grieux; a wonderfully emotional voice and a great actor. It's lovely to see a production with traditional costumes that help to create a period atmosphere.
