Size and/or design of spring latch doesn't allow the hook to fit over a scale shackle and close as intended.
It seems manufacturers of scale hooks and shackles don't communicate with each other. I have yet to find a scale hook with a spring latch that can securely hook onto a scale shackle and have the latch close without some filing of either the hook or the shackle. This one is no different.

Look cool, but not functional
The spring-loaded gates don’t open wide enough to hook onto a D-ring shackle, so while these look cool, they’re worthless.

Okay as an acoustic, lacking when plugged in
1 of 1 found this helpful Acoustic tone is ok. Decent value and looks good from across the room, but finish quality is (sadly) what I've come to expect from cheap Chinese products - subpar. I received two of these, as the first arrived missing the preamp volume knob. There's a big difference between the two basses when amplified, ironically the one missing the volume knob sounds better. On the other, the E string is practically dead, and the A & D strings are really hot, and no amount of EQ can even things out. Keeping one to have on a stand ready to play next to the couch, but I likely won't be playing it through an amp.
