Good German CD of Piaf Songs
This CD, "Unter dem Himmel von Paris" (Under the Sky of Paris), is a German version of Mirielle Mathieu's "Chante Piaf" (Songs of Piaf). However, it has eleven songs instead of thirteen. Since I speak little (eine kleine) German or French, I have to judge this CD on the sound of the songs, and the emotion that I perceive from the singer and performers. On these counts, this CD rates high. Ms. Mathieu is a master of communicating over language barriers. Additionnally, she is a singer with an unusual voice, incredible diction, superb vocal tecnique, and a wide vocal range. She also uses excellant musical arrangers, and very good supporting singers and musicians on her recordings. The songs on this CD are: "Schau mich bitte nicht so an" (Show me, Don't Ask) which has the music of "La vie en rose"; "Rummelplatz der Liebe"; "Die welt ist schon, Milord" (The World is Beautiful, My Lord) which has the music of "Milord"; "Mon Dieu" (My God); "Ein land ist Mein" (This Land is Mine) which has the music of "Exodus"; "Nein es tut mit nicht leid"; "Padam Padam"; "Hymne an die liebe" (Hymn to Love)which has the music to "L'hymme a' l'amour"; "Jezebel"; "Der Akkordeonsspeiler" (The Accordion Player) which has the music of "L'accordioniste"; and "Unter dem himmel von Pairs" which has the music from "Sous le ceil de Paris" which is known as "Under Paris Skies" in the USA. If you speak German and want to hear good French songs in German, then this CD is for you. It is also for you if you like Piaf songs, and would like to hear them in a language other than French. Additionally, Mireille Mathieu fans would buy this CD for another chance to hear her sing familiar songs, this time in German.

Excellent film about an unusual topic (Women's professional wrestling).
"...All the Marbles" is a lost gem among the many movies released since the early 1980's when it was filmed. It is a serio-comedy which stars Peter Falk, Vicki Frederick, Laurene Landon, Bert Young, and many character actors. It is a fictional account of a women's wrestling tag team and follows the "California Dolls",Iris (Frederick) and Molly (Landon), and their manager Harry (Falk) as they work their way from small arenas to a championship match in Reno. It treats wrestling matches as "real", but Harry's struggles to keep financially solvent, to get bookings for the team, to deal with constant travel, and to deal with unscrupulous promoters has a ring of truth about it. Also, the highly choreographed matches are often better than the current womens professional wrestling matches. Vicki Frederick's background as a dancer must have greatly aided her in this film. All the cast is great, but Falk is exceptional, as you would expect. The film is worth buying despite its unusual subject matter, as it often reflects the struggles and truimphs of real life, even though in a fictional world. Additionally, this was Director Robert Aldrich's last film.

These campfires are useful for RPGs or as accessories for any other games using miniatures. They are quite well done and reasonably priced.
