Works great for thin plastic a little slower on heavier stuff
I bought this to do some cross-sectioning of assembled consumer electronic products with plastic enclosures. This definitely does the job, melts and cuts the plastic without any burning or bad plastic smell. The actual knife is pretty small and cutting through thicker plastic (~1/8 in thick) goes a little slower, but definitely much more precise than just using cutters.
