Wicked Spring a Civil War Movie
1 of 1 found this helpful An excellent depiction of men during the Civil War. Deals in a convincing manner with the raw brutality and chaos of combat as well as the humanity of those caught up in the conflict.

Game of Vultures
The best thing about this movie is that it is set during the Rhodesian bush war of the 1970s. I don't know of any other movies that have depicted this conflict. Other than that the movie is little more than a collection of cliches and down right silly action sequences. Military costuming and weaponry appropriate to that war are accurate, which is a good touch, but that is really as far as it goes. The story is based on a true episode of the war when the Rhodesians smuggled in some helicopters to help them fight their war, but the movie takes this to absurd lengths, not to mention asking us to believe that a squad of Zimbawean fighters can travel across Africa, into South African controlled Namibia and launch a major attack without anyone noticing that they were even there - as I say very silly. One interesting thing is that the movie does not take sides in the war and portrays the reasons for both sides fighting in the conflict in an even handed manner. Overall it is an OK movie to kill an hour or two, but do not expect too much from it.

An incredibly well told and exciting story, delivered by a master of art.
In my opinion one of Tom Clancy's two best books, the other being Hunt for Red October. This is the story of a Soviet invasion of Western Europe sometime during the 1980s. In typical Clancy fashion the story is developed with meticulous attention to detail. Character development, while present, is not a major feature of this tale with the emphasis being on the politics and technical aspects of fighting such a war. Land, air and naval warfare all feature in this story and one can only admire Clancy's grasp of the operational requirements and technology relevant to each, even though that technology is very 1980s. In all of this Clancy excels himself. This is a great story, well told by a master of his craft.
