Great way to re-use obsolete drives
The interface works either way but the documentation is a vague on how to connect iit. You do need to connect the external power connector as well, this wasn't clear. Once you get over the way to use it then all works well as advertised. I had a pile of IDE DVD drives and rather junk them and buy new SATA drives I used this adapter and saved a mint. Very worthwhile if you are want to access an older drive, but I wouldn't recommend it for a boot drive - I use SSD's for high performance requirements. The main benefit is cost saving and re-using old drives. Watch out for space though, as the unit connects to the rear of the drive and may interfere with other components, such as memory chips, cables, power supply etc.

Nice timer but some instructions would help.
The timer has spade connections along its lower edge, which limits the position it can be installed, especially if it is a replacement for an older unit which has rear connections. A better arrangement could be recessed screw terminals so you can do do either way.
There is no manual supplied with the timer so the use of the front buttons was a mystery. The front control toggle has three positions - off, timer and on, but the toggle is very stiff to push and if you don't realise this then you can conclude that you need another main 'on/off' switch as well. I only figured it all out after pulling the timer apart as I thought it was of no use to me and I wanted to know what the switch actually did! I then gave up and just replaced the piece of equipment I had tried to repair as I was getting nowhere and the dial diameter was bigger than the old unit, the depth required was too great ... etc - more problems mounting up at each turn.
For new equipment or as a direct replacement I'd say no worries, but I doubt it would fit older equipment.

Detailed account, excellent research.
Like the author I was trying to find out what my father (Polish conscript) went through, though he survived against all odds. I needed to find out what happened to his regiment (162 RD), and it was laid out in the book.
The book is based on exhaustive 'administrative' documentation and, as with a lot of historical records, the personal element is missing. My father told me of marching for days on end to escape the encirclement, being picked off for sport and too tired to duck because he wouldn't have the strength to get up again.
This book provides highly detailed account of times and places which will provide a time line for further research. Highly recommended, its still very hard to believe the scale of the battles and losses.
Good - lots of detail, obviously a labour of love over a long time. Bad - places names and maps very confusing if you aren't familiar with the region. Found it difficult to locate places referenced in the book or get a feel for the vast rolling action on the front.
A book reader version is available, but I wanted the paper copy to read at leisure. But after reading the book I will also need the electronic version to search for content, it is hard reading. Also need to look at Google Earth to put it all in context.
Very pleased with the book, I recommend it to anyone with an interest in this conflict.
