Need advice on how to install

I can't get the cable on ,don't know it there is an adjustment, or something. But it's a 1/2" short. I've looked for videos on this product ,but can't find anything on how to install it. It doesn't seem that hard to install. Wondering if anyone knows how to install it,if there is an adjustment or something.
