A delightful book which has become a family tradition
My daughter received this special book when she was born almost 10 years ago and we haven't missed a birthday when we make a point of reading it. The collage illustrations are at once simple and powerful, the colors and shapes appealing to the very young child while the older child can appreciate the patterns and elements. The "story" connects the child to his/her world in an organic and lyrical way - the writing sets a tone that echoes the cycles and seasons it speaks of, rising to the excitement of the child arriving into the welcoming world.
I purchased the book and cd set for my one-year-old nephew hoping to establish a tradition for him as well. I haven't heard the cd yet, but the book is simply wonderful.
