Tamron 90mm f2.8 Di Macro Autofocus for Nikon DSLR
This lens seems to have everything that I wanted when replacing my old manual focus Tamron 90mm f2.5 lens. It gives true macro (1:1)and is very well designed for use. The manual focusing ring is not a sort of vestigial organ as it is on many other AF lenses. It is not a feature that is added on but designed in such a way that no one can or would ever actually want to use it. The lens even has a manual aperture ring (with a lock button). Because the Macro ratio is so high, the amount of travel in the focus is very great and so the lens is fitted with a limiter which can be set to only allow travel throughout the distance range (0.45 m - inf)or the macro range (below 0.45m), regardless of whether it is on MF or AF. The control to switch from MF to AF is unusual in that the focus ring moves bickwards and forwards on the barrel and a marker shows which mode it is in. It remains to be seen whether this attracts dust/dirt and whether after prolongued use it remains as positive as it is when new. The lens looks and feels very nice and so far after limited usage the results it has turned in seem to be as good as I was hoping for. Roll on my summer holidays when I hope that the dragonflies of France will take a severe photographic beating. Bollinghorse

The Eurolites do exactly what they are supposed to and are reasonably priced.
