Premium Deer Hide Leather Turntable Platter Mat - Handcrafted In Los Angeles
    14 April 2016
    Deer hide mat
After buying one mat and using it for a few months, I bought a second. One for an old sprung chassis Thorens, and one for a nice solid chassis table. Improved the sound significantly on both, and the Grado cartridges seem to track better. There seems to be more spaciousness along with better detail and richer instrumental timbres. Beautiful full sound. For me, better than felt, Thorens rubber, Ringmat, Herbies, Origin Live, Achromat, and various homemade cork mats. The mats are beautiful, even and smooth. I prefer the "suede" side up, but of course, it's easy try both ways.
Korg Orchestral Clip-On Tuner with Metronome Black
    21 June 2018
Handy tuner with a nice screen.
I've happily used the previous model for several years, and I like this one a lot, too. One good feature is that this is one of the few tuners that goes down to A=410, so there's a lot flexibility for baroque and early classical tunings. (Many tuners only go to A=435.) Also, the AW-LT100, has a much better screen than the previous model. A drawback is that the on/off switch activates very easily, so that one must be careful about carrying it around with other stuff that might keep turning on the tuner. Though it does have an auto-off capability after a certain time. There's no mention of a mic, but the tuner does also work when clipped onto my music stand.
