Moved up to the SX60 HS
4 of 4 found this helpful Originally had the Canon S5is point and shoot. Quite an amazing camera for it's time. I then spotted the Canon SX50 HS and was delighted with the performance even though I no longer could record sound without video and did not have the lower resolution video the S5is had (important if space comes at a premium), but I did get the higher resolution video which I use very seldom. The SX60 has a wider telescopic range, which I enjoy. It also has the WiFi capability which is not user friendly! Got it to work one time and then it became to much trouble. One of the best parts of the camera is the focusing ability. Compared to the SX50, it is vastly superior, especially for macro shots. I think the flash shots are far better as well. Beyond the 65 x optical zoom and going into the digital zoom is still very good quality shooting, but a little difficult to steady, but really cool. It's got a lot of hidden talent, that most people might never realize. We all have our little phones now with a good camera built in and it is easy to forget about all the goodies you can have on a dedicated camera. I also have and Lumix DMC FZ-200 which is a great camera for other reasons. With
the Canon SX60 you really have one of the best packages without going to a DSLR which can be challenging and you don't get the zoom range unless you spend a couple thousand dollars or more. The quality differences between the Canon SX60 and the DSLR is not that great to me, especially for the fact you have to carry around a ton of accessories and switch lenses etc. I don't think you'll be sorry you bought this camera.

Well made but small...
Well made box, but standard size pieces didn't fit to well in the box. Needs to be a little larger to fit a tournament/standard size set in it.
