Its a shame MERCK discontinued this product.
From what I've gathered it had one of the BEST safety and efficacy records for pet flea treatments on the market.
Guess it worked TOO good. Maybe so much so... MERCK itself didn't make enough off of it. Because I found after just 3 months use.. I never had another flea in the house for over 2 years. And My cats let Me KNOW when there are fleas in the house. They closely inspect ANY carpeted area before even walking on it. Lol. And I mean.. They will LITERALLY avoid the carpet like a plague if there are ANY fleas in the house. They will jump on tables and desks.. And chairs, or whatever is off the ground in order to simply traverse a short distance across it.
Since treating 6 cats about 2 years ago.. My cats no longer inspect nor avoid the carpet.. And actually SLEEP on it like they use to.
Just noticed one on a cat a few weeks back.. Started looking for more Activyl.. And I couldn't find it ANYWHERE till I found ONE BOX on here.
I guess when something works that good.. Companies loose incentive to keep producing it.. Or competitors start applying pressure to discontinue. Or both.
And it's STILL a damn shame.. EITHER way.
I TRUSTED it more then ANY other topical application... Mainly because it's only toxic to invertebrates. And doesn't seemingly POISON your animals, just to combat fleas.
I hope I can find a SAFE and EFFECTIVE replacement that isn't ENGINEERED to only be effective.. Till prior dose RUNS OUT.
i.e. the INTENTIONAL repeat business rabbit-hole. NOT designed to CURE ANYTHING... just to keep you perpetually COMING BACK FOR MORE.
