Narva HD Surface Mount Accessory Socket 12V White 81025WBL

If you need a weatherproof 12v socket, stay away from this product.

One of the primary features of this item, namely, the dustproof/weatherproof door, is poorly designed and manufactured and in my example, does not work and is virtually useless. The door makes a loose contact with the outlet's opening and without any "locking" mechanism it falls open with the slightest jarring. I am dumbfounded as to why any engineer did not see the need to mould into this product, some form of "locking ring" (with associated groove in the opening), to securely hold the door in place or alternatively, install a spring-loaded door of hard plastic - which would be so much more superior. I used to think the name "Narva' implied good quality but this product is simply "not fit for purpose".
