The Snowfly - Joseph Heywood (2000)
The book was loaned to me by a friend who is also a flyfisher. I liked the book so much that I kept it and bought a new one for him. I also bought two of his earlier books in 1st edition state since I believe Heywood will become a collectible writer. The story revolves around the mythical "Snowfly". Only the Snowfly attracts the largest trout which may weigh dozens of pounds and only hatches in the winter in odd years. The writer takes you on a journey around the world, with layer upon layer of adventures that somehow relate to this fly. It actually made me feel worn out after some chapters, they were so absorbing. Anyway as a guy who is familiar with the Upper Penninsula of Michigan and Wisconsin streams, I fell right into this book.

WHAT THE EXPERTS USE.... WICKED SHARP!
as a disappointed craft knife user since my first exacto this is perfect. buy the strop to keep them 5razor shar[p. IMHO the Flexcut knives are the best and perfect carving tools. my favorite uncle carved decoys and birds in the 70s. even with the finest set of xacto tools they were never god enough. and could never be properly sharpened. whethr the tool steel or blade gemotery nothing works as good as FLEXCUT. effertless precise shaving. cut my gun leather project faster and safer than leather tools. makikes modeling a cinch. they are razor sharp so i won't carve in bare feet. Coupleled with JOOLTOOL sharing system perfect gifts afor every craftyer who needs sharp tools. AAA+++ always use them now...

    Excellent for the beginning woodturner
I have not turned wood before although I have been woodworking for many years. I bought a midi 10" Cast Iron Wood Lathe from Grizzly Tools and thought I'd better get some expert advice about lathes. Conover's book takes you through the complete cycle of lathe types, tools needed, how to sharpen (Very Important since the tools I bought were sharp but not sharp enough). Also techniques, tips and warnings necessary to safely delve into your new machine and hobby. In addition I bought a DVD from Rockler's of basic lathe work and tool usage. A necessity I think unless you have an experienced woodturner to walk you through the correct and dangerous ways to handle your tools.
