John Wayne (Marion Michael Morrison) "The Duke"
John Wayne was one of the most interesting characters of the century. His movies portrayed him as an honorable man, family man with values and many times a hero. According to his books, he carried a dismay that he was turned down for armed services and so in turn, portrayed the fighting man to show what others did that he could not do. Many think that he was a drunkard and a womanizer. He did drink and smoke, he was wronged by his first wife according to many books and carried that hurt throughout his life. He loved his children, was active in their lives and even involved them in the movie business. I've been intrigued by him, both on screen and real life for many years and have an extensive collection of not only his movies, but pictures, memorabilia and books on his real life. This 10 pk is an earlier collection of some of his movies, mainly produced/directed by his long time friend, John Ford. I never tire of new material for insight into this wonderful historical man.

God Bless John Wayne by Kinky Friedman, Memorabilia.
I don't exactly know how to rate this product. I bought it because someone told me it had a different outlook on John Wayne. I adore J.W. I have piles of informative literature and memorabilia on him. There are three books and a small pile of old newspapers and clippings ahead of this book to read. I'm sorry I can't be of more help other than to say I bought this book to peruse when I get to it because John Wayne (Marion Michael Morrison) intrigued me. He was an unusual and very moral american. He would have been truly disappointed in America right now. He probably would have told us to "Get a horse, Pilgrim!". Books, especially autobiographies, can tell you so much, not only about the character, but about a lifestyle long ago lost. I wanted this one book, God Bless John Wayne, to get Kinky Friedmans slant.
