DVD arrived today (Massachusetts, US). Popped it into my region-free (Sony) DVD/BD player, and it started playing. [As I suspected, NTSC/PAL/SECAM isn't an issue at all because those have to do with the broadcast signal. With a DVD player connected via HDMI, no issue.] I'll wait for Series 1 to arrive, so I can watch the episodes in order...

I'm not sure that this thing really is new. The plastic sheet (the square thing in the middle) is broken (thought it might have happened in shipping). There is black stuff on the white rollers (toner?) and grooves on several of the rollers and some kind of gunk on several rollers (as though lots of paper has passed by/through them. Will it work better than the old one? I'm reluctant to try it.
