Visually stunning rain animation, am getting into Shinkai’s storytelling.
Within the first few frames, I was amazed at the quality of the animation, particularly the rain and water droplets as they land.
The story line is unusual and borderline taboo, but it’s interesting how the main characters get to know some of the more intimate details about one another before getting to the more superficial stuff...Sort of a relationship developing in reverse. Both main characters are broken in their own way and help each other to “learn to walk” more normally. There are a lot of analogies here, but it’s worth the (short) ride. I also love how the characters have little Easter egg cameos in his other later films.
