180Miles HDTV DTV Outdoor Directional Antenna UHF/VHF/FM Heavy Duty Digital TV

Good Antenna For A Good Price
Before I put this antenna outside I connected it to my tv with the antenna sitting on my living room floor to test it before I put it in the air. I did the standard channel search and I got all the channels I had before but with a much stronger signal strength on all channels. Next step was my (current) outdoor test installation. It's now on a 10' mast right next to my house which puts it at about gutter height. The back of the antenna is next to my house (south) and the front points north, which is where all my local/regional channel transmitters are located. It's got my neighbor's house right in the way across the driveway. I connected the coax to my TV (I bought better coax than what was provided with the antenna and skipped the included coax altogether) and did another channel search. I was getting 34 channels indoors and now it was 54 channels with 100' of coax inline and a splitter and another run of coax going to my tv to boot. Not only did I get all my north-based (Detroit region) channels with better signal strength, even with some of those channels more than 50 miles away, I also got several channels from Toledo which I haven't seen since I was a kid in the 1960's. Keep in mind that the antenna is only up 10' and the back of the antenna is practically touching my house, with those Toledo stations coming into the back of the antenna. I'm a ham radio operator with the 'Extra' class license and a former broadcast engineer and I can say with a little more than passing knowledge that this is a pretty darn good antenna. It was a little hard following the manual to put it together but the YouTube video helped. The video was also a little iffy but it did work to put the antenna together right the first time with no mistakes. It's good to put these things together right the first time because it's not so good to take them apart and put them back together if you make a mistake. GO SLOW AND GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! When you have it put together right and tight, it's surprisingly solid & strong. I think it will last pretty well outside and up in the air. Of course you'll need the supplied amplifier which seems to work fairly well even though it seems kind of cheap. Long runs of coax, splitters and connector sleeves always cause signal loss so amplifiers help to assure that what any antenna (good or bad) picks up will reach your tv. Though I don't really "need" one, I'm going to add one more amplifier, which will be an amplified splitter to replace my current passive splitter. I'm also going to add another 5' to my mast just as a little reassurance so I won't have to make any changes over the soon to be Michigan winter months. I want a little overkill now to be well prepared for any weather/atmospheric activity which might degrade my signal between now and next spring. As of now, ALL the channels have great signal strength with ZERO dropouts in video or audio...no pixelation or any other problems common with weak digital TV broadcast signal strength. I bought this antenna based on other's reviews and the price was good as well. The seller got this antenna to me 2 days before promised and the only "problems" were a plastic bag of small parts had torn or something when being packed in the box and those parts were spilled out and rolling around in the box, and the instructions were a little iffy. But all the parts were there and even though the instructions were a little iffy, it was pretty easy to put together. Just go slow and use the YouTube video which you can pause and rewind.

Rotosound RS66LA Extra Light Long Scale Bass Strings
    05 June 2016
    First try of RS66LA Strings
I play a Rickenbacker 4005 bass (original owner) and have been using RS66LB strings on it since I first discovered them some time in the early 80's. Before then I had been using standard RS66 strings. I have small hands and fingers and the difference between RS66 & RS 66LB strings made a huge difference in my playing. I had to do very little EQ tweaking to regain any low-end I might have lost when I switched to lighter gauge and the difference in the overall "feel" and response of the strings was instantly noticeable....especially in the attack and sustain of the E-string. Now I'm 58 years old and my hands are rather damaged from hard work. It was affecting my playing. So I finally tried RS66LA strings and the difference between them and RS66LB's was the same for me as how I felt decades ago when switching from RS66 & RS66LB. I lost almost no low-end and any change is very easily adjusted by a tiny tweak of EQ on my rig. The ease of play, attack and sustain are incredible. The response of the E-string is fantastic and when I play F, G, A's, etc on the E-string my bass responds like never before. Very clean & no mud whatsoever. I was afraid such light gauge strings might be loose and floppy on the fretboard but nope...they feel like Rotosounds always do; piano string sturdy. Of course I can easily get less treble & harmonic response if a given song requires a less "classic Rickenbacker sound" by using the tone controls on the bass. In fact, now the tone controls make a better difference than ever. Rotosound RS66LA strings have now become my only string of choice.
