GUERILLA WAR (NINTENDO)
"They don't make games like this anymore" Guerilla War is by the far the greatest war game ever created for the NES. It even has more action in it than most games that are out today. Nothing compared to the Arcade version, but the NES version is still a very good game in its own right. If only they made games like this nowadays... Gameplay - 10/10 The gameplay for Guerilla War is nothing short of perfection. The controls are spot on. The only difficult thing to control is when you try to shoot enemies that are coming at you from an angle. The amount of enemies that SNK has placed on the screen at one time is also amazing. Don't be surprised if you find yourself fighting 10 enemies at once, or more. With the amount of enemies, the difficulty is rather high until you start to get use to the game. The different array of weapons that you can collect and your ability to toss grenades contributes to Guerilla War's awesome gameplay. Riding around in a tank and blowing people up is just too cool. The two-player cooperative feature is also very nice. Having trouble uprooting the established government? Then call up a friend and have him join you in the assault. Story - 9/10 You must struggle to fight against the oppressive king who is subjugating your people. The perfect backdrop is painted for a coup d’état, and guess what, you lead the resistance! Pretty cool If you ask me. Graphics/Visual Effects - 9/10 A major downgrade in graphics from the Arcade version, but for its time on the NES, Guerilla War has some pretty good graphics. The backgrounds are nicely colored and beautifully done. The enemy characters look nice as well. Audio - 9/10 The music in Guerilla War is actually quite catchy and perfect for use in the game's war setting. Replay Value - 7/10 Replaying the game by yourself is rather boring, but replaying the game with a friend who hasn't played it is a lot more entertaining. To Be or Not to Be? Try to find this one friends, you won't be disappointed. You might be able to find it at a garage sale, but other than that, emulation is the only way to play this old-timer. Overall - 10/10 This is my favorite war game of all-time. Much better than the current Sarge's Heroes series. Even though the graphics are rather rough by today's standards, Guerilla War is an awesome game.

"Not even Yoshi would eat this cookie"
"Not even Yoshi would eat this cookie" For starters, this game is a take-off of a take-off. When Nintendo saw the nationally renounced success of Tetris, Nintendo wanted a little piece of that, so they made Dr. Mario. It was a good game, but Tetris had better music, better gameplay, and was just more original. This game is a terrible game, even for a take-off. What was Nintendo thinking? Graphics: 6/10 The graphics are ok. Yoshi and Mario in the opening look decent, but even Super Mario 2 had better graphics. The cookies are fairly bad, and the backround leaves something to be desired. I mean come on, Dr. Mario had better graphics! Story: 1/10 It seems that the factory is overloading with cookies! Oh no! Now Mario the Chef must arrange the cookies in straight lines according to type so they won't overflow and destroy the factory! Since when is Mario a chef (but then again, since when is he a doctor?)? This make absolutely no sense. I mean, since when do people hate it when cookies come falling from the sky? Control: 4/10 The control on Yoshi's Cookie is ok, but it controls just like any other Tetris rip-off. This time though you move the cookies which have already landed and rearrange them by the rows, which gets kinda annoying when they come down fast and you're trying to arrange it so you can get 1 row completed. They could've made this better. Gameplay: 4/10 The game is nothing great here. It's not just a standard Tetris-ripoff, it's worse than one. It's extremely boring and very easy. The only thing which makes me give it anything above a 1 is its addictive, despite it's lack of deapth or fun factor. Sound/Music: 2/10 The music is pretty bad. The quality of it is very low and it gets tedious awfully quickly. The sound is ok, but again it's low quality and it seems like this game was either extremely rushed or they just didn't put any work into it. Replay Value: 3/10 The only reason I can think to replay this game is because of it's multiplayer. The game itself is very easy, so what's left is the multiplayer, and even then if I want a good multiplayer NES game I'll play Double Dragon or even Dr. Mario for that matter! Overall: 3/10 This game could've been better than it is, an attempt to milk the Tetris-style franchise even more. It was a failure. Don't get this. Stay away from it. If you want a good Tetris-style game buy Dr. Mario. This just isn't up there. Forshame, Nintendo. Forshame... Pros: ok multiplayer Cons: Everything else
